Postdoctoral Position in Nanostructured Semiconductor Lasers for Applications in Optical Communication Systems

Assistant Professor Cheng Wang’s research group is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the area of semiconductor optoelectronics. The project aims to develop advanced III-V semiconductor laser sources based on nanostructures for applications in high speed fiber-optic communication systems and in broadband radio-over-fiber networks. The candidate will take part in both theoretical and experimental investigations of novel semiconductor laser devices’ modulation dynamics and nonlinear dynamics, as well as developing techniques for enhancing the lasers’ dynamic performances. He/she will be also involved in collaborations with international partners from France, Canada, and the US. Qualification:
A minimum academic qualification is PhD degree in electrical and electronic engineering, physics, or relevant discipline. Applicants with knowledge of laser physics or optical communications are desirable. Previous experiences in simulation and characterization of semiconductor optoelectronic devices, such as laser diodes, LEDs, amplifiers, and photodiodes would be a plus.
