We have an open postdoctoral position in the Turcan lab at the Department of Neurology, Heidelberg University Hospital. The focus of the project is on adult brain tumors, specifically on IDH mutant lower grade gliomas. The project aims to understand the epigenetic heterogeneity within these tumors to uncover therapeutic vulnerabilities. The candidate will use primary tumor models, cell/ molecular biology techniques, next-generation sequencing approaches, and CRISPR-Cas9 techniques to target the epigenome.
About us:
Our lab studies the role of IDH mutations in driving glioma pathogenesis. Our group is part of an integral collaborative cancer center that includes neurology, neurosurgery and basic science departments and is positioned uniquely to effectively integrate our research group’s translational science approach to understand brain tumors. More information can be found at https://www.klinikum.uni-heidelberg.de/Lower-Grade-Gliomas.142000.0.html
Minimum qualifications:
PhD degree in biology or related fields, with relevant published research experience
Expertise in molecular biology and cell culture techniques are necessary
Experience with primary cell cultures and epigenetics are highly desired
Experience with single-cell methods (10X, Fluidigm etc) are highly desired.
Bioinformatics knowledge is preferred
Good communication and organizational skills are a must.
The position is initially limited to 2 years.
If interested, please send your CV, a summary of accomplishments/research interests and contact information for three references to Dr. Sevin Turcan (sevin.turcan@med.uni-heidelberg.de).
