The cluster of excellence Hearing4all: Models, Technology and Solutions for Diagnostics, Restoration and Support of Hearing at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (in collaboration with Medizinische Hochschule Hannover and Leibniz Universität Hannover) is seeking to fill the position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Field of Auditory Physiology in the Department of Neurosciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Description
A paramount goal of the cluster of excellence Hearing4all is to transform audiology into an "exact" science based on the interplay between experiment and theory as well as between basic science and clinical research. In the framework provided by the cluster the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the research goals of the cluster in research area A "Improving Diagnostics for a Better Individualized Treatment", e.g., by studying neuronal responses at different levels of the auditory pathway in rodents (e.g. inner ear, auditory nerve, CN, IC) with normal hearing and with a pathophysiological change of auditory processing. A special focus will be on the age-related change of auditory processing in the peripheral and central auditory system. The position is available immediately, for initially 2 years, with prospect for continuation for up to 3 more years. Candidates are expected to have an academic university degree in the field of neuroscience, animal physiology, bioengineering, or a related discipline and have shown their ability to perform excellent scientific work, usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of their Doctorate/PhD research and a good publication record. We are seeking candidates with extensive experience in the following methods, in this priority: neurophysiology (preferably in-vivo), neuroanatomy, or imaging using voltage sensitive dyes. Matlab skills will be helpful. The University of Oldenburg strives to increase the proportion of women in science, so we especially encourage female candidates to apply. Handicapped applicants will be given preference if equally qualified. Please send your application including a cover letter, CV, list of potential referees, links to recent publications, and copies of certificates for academic grades to Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Fakultät VI, Exzellenzcluster „Hearing4all“, Prof. Dr. Dr. Birger Kollmeier, 26111 Oldenburg or as an email attachment to the office of the cluster of excellence (karin.klink@uni-oldenburg.de). Application by email is preferred. Prof. Christine Köppl (Christine.koeppl@uni-oldenburg.de) or Prof. Georg Klump (georg.klump@uni-oldenburg.de) are happy to be contacted for further questions regarding the position. Application deadline is 15th of June 2013. Interviewing may start earlier and will continue until the position is filled.
