A postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for Molecular Biologist, Biochemist or chemist to join a multidisciplinary team of scientists working on a major interdisciplinary project to develop a generic platform technology for the rapid laboratory evolution of biocatalysts (enzymes and whole cells) for application in the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients. You will be responsible for one of 6 individual target reaction work packageslooking specifically at the amine synthesis using ammonia lyase biocatalysts.
You should have a PhD or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry; with a proven track record in enzyme discovery, biocatalyst optimisation (via directed evolution/protein engineering), target reaction application and development of practical procedures for larger scale biocatalytic reactions. The project will involve a considerable amount of enzyme redesign using structural biology, database screening and directed evolution. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and leading a small research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
