An opportunity exists to join the Keays Lab at the Institute for Molecular Pathology as a Post Doctoral Fellow in the fields of human genetics and neuroscience. The project will employ state-of-the-art sequencing techniques to identify new genes that cause neurodevelopmental disease, which will be complemented by in vivo analysis in the mouse. The project will involve interaction with a network of clinical collaborators in Austria, the United Kingdom and France.
The ideal candidate will have undertaken doctoral studies in the field of human genetics and/or developmental neuroscience. He/she will be expected to play a leadership role in the co-ordination, design, and implementation of the project. He/she will have an existing publication record, will be passionate about neuroscience and/or genetics, and will work well within an expanding team. The applicant is expected to be skilled in a broad range of molecular techniques.
The Keays lab is embedded within the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna, one of Europe’s leader research institutes. The IMP has outstanding scientific services and infrastructure, that includes a broad array of bio-optic, histological, and sequencing tools. The Keays has an established track record of making important discoveries in diverse fields of biology (Keays et al, Cell 2007, Treiber et al, Nature 2012, Breuss et al, Cell Reports 2012). Vienna is frequently ranked the worlds most liveable city and English is the working language.
Applications with a covering letter, CV and the names of three referees should be sent to: keays@imp.ac.atby August 15th 2013. Interviews will follow shortly after this date. The position is externally funded for three years.
