You will undertake independent research in the development of autonomous, deployable marine devices that use genomic or proteomic assays to sense microbes in marine system.
Specifically you will:

Miniaturise and automate existing genomic and/or proteomic lab-based assays. Test the miniaturised assays in the lab

Evaluate and apply fluorescent and/or electronic detection of macromolecular interactions

Build and integrate a miniaturised assay module into a modified, automated microbial sampler

Develop skills in teamwork, science planning and project management
Candidates appointed as a Post doctoral fellow will have the following additional duties and key result areas:

Produce high quality scientific and technical outputs including journal articles, conference papers and presentations, patents and technical reports.

Develop innovative concepts and ideas for further research.

Regularly review relevant literature and patents.
