Applications are invited for two post-doctoral positions in the Laboratory of Prof. Flaminia Catteruccia (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/flaminia-catteruccia/) in the Department of Experimental Medicine and Biochemical Sciences at the University of Perugia, Italy. These FP7-funded positions will focus on the molecular basis of reproduction in the malarial mosquito,Anopheles gambiae, with a view to uncovering novel strategies for the control of vector populations in the field. The research will involve the use of molecular, genetic and cell biological techniques, such as immunofluorescence, RNAi, RNAseq and others, to identify factors and pathways that are essential for mosquito reproduction. Knowledge of bioinformatics is also highly desirable. The positions will be based in the University of Perugia but the successful applicants will have the opportunity to spend time in the laboratory’s sister site at the Harvard School of Public Health (Boston, USA) as well as to undertake field studies in Kenya and Burkina Faso.
The successful applicants should speak good English and have a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related biological discipline ideally, but not necessarily, in insects. Interested parties should apply through the NatureJobs website or directly to the Lab by email:fcatteruccialab@gmail.com
