As part of the new Africa – Oxford Health Systems Collaboration initiative (OHSCAR), we are seeking an early career research scientist to develop work in an area of health systems research focusing on an area within the spectrum from evidence creation, evidence synthesis, policy or guideline development or policy/guideline implementation. Ideally new work would complement or strengthen existing work in these areas.
Funding will allow the postholder to spend approximately 2 months per year in Kenya to promote the development of collaborative work but their primary working base will be in Oxford.
You will hold a primary degree and PhD or equivalent in a field relevant to further study in health systems or services research and have the capacity to develop a personal research interest that is suitable for independent funding. You will be interested in health systems in low income settings and be able to spend time in Kenya to foster development of research and collaborations.
Whilst the role is a Grade 8 position, we would be willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience who are seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 7 (£29,541 - £36,298 p.a.) with the responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.
