A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the lab of Dr. Paul Shaw in the Department of Neurobiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis to study the molecular and cellular bases for sleep regulation, plasticity and memory consolidation in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to learn and apply molecular, genetic, physiological, and behavioral tools to study mechanisms by which sleep might influence plasticity.
Qualified applicants are expected to hold a recent doctoral degree in the biological sciences, or in related disciplines. Prior experience in working with flies and broad understanding of genetic principles are highly preferred. Highly competitive salary and benefits are available and will commensurate with experience.
