A postdoctoral fellow position is available at the Department of Genetics, The Research Institute of Experimental Medicine, Istanbul University, in the lab of Dr. Selcuk Sozer to study hematopoietic and malignant stem cells, endothelial cells and the role of some mutations in hematopoietic malignancies.
The major research interests in the lab are: (1) to investigate the impact of mutations on endothelial cell survival and activation of pro-hematopoietic genetic programs and; (2) to evaluate the regenerative effects of some mutations on hematopoietic stem cells used in the treatment of hematopoietic malignancies.
The successful candidates will be expected to establish an active research with techniques involved human stem cell culture, classical cell and molecular biology techniques, fluorescence activated cell sorting and flow cytometry analysis, molecular genetics , imaging and viral gene transfer. The applicant should be highly motivated, having leadership qualities, able to substitute the principal investigator in terms of masters and PhD/MD student guidance and project coordination and who will collaborate with an international group of researchers and students to work on a highly complex and interdisciplinary topics. This is a full time job for two years period. The salary is 2250 Turkish Lira/month. The applicant should be within 5 years after graduation.
