Postdoctoral Research Scholar

North Carolina State University - Raleigh, NC

The School of Public and International Affairs at NC State invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position with an interest in science and technology policy and qualitative research skills beginning 09/01/2013. The position is for a one year appointment in the Department of Public Administration.

The successful candidate will help conduct and oversee research at the intersection of science, technology and society in the field of synthetic biology. They will be part of a research team to develop case studies of synthetic biology applications that are in early stages of development in order to critically evaluate the potential risks, benefits and societal issues posed by them, and to identify the strengths and weaknesses of existing systems likely to be used for their governance.

Minimum Experience/Education
Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.

Departmental Required Skills
Qualifications: A PhD, JD or MD in a field relevant to synthetic biology governance such as policy sciences, communication, biology, sociology, etc.
