We are seeking a well motivated and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Researcher with a strong background in biomedical/toxicology research to work on an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) project to investigate the potential toxicity of nano and micro particles associated with a novel biomaterial approach to repair of dental surfaces. Potential toxicity will also focus on laser-induced photo-toxicity of engineered nano/micro particles. This post is part of a collaboration called LUMIN, led by Professor Animesh Jha of the School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering (SPEME).
You will be based within the LIGHT laboratories under the day to day supervision of Dr Michael Routledge, and co-supervised by Dr Andrew Brown in School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering (SPEME). The research will involve cytotoxicity, genotoxicity and immunotoxicity testing, using cultured cell systems and their analysis using a plethora of analytical techniques for cytokine and morphological analysis (Raman, FTIR, Electron microscopy).
A first degree in a relevant discipline (eg biomedical sciences, biochemistry, cell biology) and a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, toxicology or a closely related discipline are essential.
