A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Min Dong’s lab at the New England Primate Research Center of Harvard Medical School. The lab studies a fascinating family of bacterial toxins, botulinum neurotoxins, which are used widely in treating a growing list of neurological disorders. We are also investigating fundamental neuronal functions, particularly synaptic vesicle release, vesicle trafficking, and cytoskeleton remodeling in neurons. Along these lines of research, we have a keen interest in translating our insights toward developing new reagents and therapeutics. This is a young lab, established in 2009, and currently has two postdoctoral fellows. We emphasize rigorous training for postdoctoral fellows. As an example, the current senior postdoctoral fellow has already published three first author papers and filed one patent (which has already been licensed) since joining the lab in 2009. Please visit: http://donglab.hms.harvard.edu for a description of potential research directions. Background in neuroscience or structural biology and experience in neuron culture, synaptic physiology, protein engineering, X-ray crystal structure, and in vivo analysis of rodent models will be beneficial, but are not required.
Harvard Medical School and the New England Primate Research Center are equal opportunity employers, committed to diversity in the workplace.
