The section of Public Mental Health at the University of Ulm, Germany, invites applications for a three-year postdoctoral associate position (extension for another three years possible). We seek a new member of our team working in the field of stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness. The section is led by Nicolas Rüsch, Professor of Public Mental Health at the Department of Psychiatry II, University of Ulm, Germany (chair: Professor Thomas Becker).

Your tasks:
- Work with datasets from ongoing longitudinal studies on stigma and publish original articles for peer-reviewed journals
- Conduct pilot studies on stigma and discrimination (potential topics include stigma & employment; RCTs of interventions to reduce public or self-stigma; experimental work on mechanisms of successful anti-stigma interventions; qualitative work)
- Recruit, screen and assess study participants using structured interviews
- Write up study results for conferences and peer-reviewed journals
- Write grant proposals based on current data and pilot studies
- Participate in an upcoming longitudinal study on stigma and mental health service use among unemployed persons
Your profile:
- Doctorate degree (or having submitted your thesis) in social or clinical psychology/psychiatry, health service research or related fields
- Background in social psychological concepts and methods related to stigma, preferably including indirect attitude measures
- Experience with intervention research, longitudinal designs and complex data analyses, e.g. SEM, is helpful
- Very good oral and written skills in German and English
- Interest to develop and evaluate interventions to reduce public/self-stigma in collaboration with consumers/peers and researchers
- Experience with publishing original articles and preferably with grant writing
- You should be excited by research in this field
