Postdoctoral Position in Cell Competition
Albert Einstein College of Medicine - New York, NY
A postdoctoral position for the molecular study of cell competition is available in Prof. Nicholas Baker’s laboratory at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Cell competition recognizes and eliminates abnormal cells during development and is thought to occur in cancer (Current Biology 2011 vol 21 pp R11-15). The successful candidate will employ genetic, molecular genetic, and biochemical approaches to identify and characterize mechanisms that recognize and eliminate cells with imbalances in ribosomal proteins.
Applicants should be highly motivated and qualified. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are expected. They must have or expect to obtain a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field. Experience in protein biochemistry, genetics, molecular genetics, live imaging of tissues, or Drosophila studies may be an advantage.
Albert Einstein College of Medicine is located in a residential suburb of New York city, with ready access to cultural and recreational opportunities, and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Salary will be according to experience on the NIH scale. Applications will be considered immediately and until the position is filled.
