Job Description
Postdoctoral Fellowship within the Virtual Nanoscience Laboratory
Contribute to the development of new theoretical and computational capabilities, and become part of a new direction in nanoscience research
Join CSIRO – Australia’s premier science and technology research organisation
The Position:
CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering is seeking to appoint a highly motivated graduate who will take a substantive role in developing statistical descriptions of nanostructures. The Fellow will play an important role in development of new theoretical and computational capabilities in the Virtual Nanoscience Laboratory (VNLab), under the direction of Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) Science Leader, Dr. Amanda Barnard, and their application to (among others) carbon-based nanomaterials.
Specifically you will:
Develop statistical models of nanostructures, to define archetypes that are representative of polydispersed ensembles.
Develop high-throughput frameworks for structure sampling, generation and simulation.
Develop automated data analysis systems, and databases suitable for informatics platforms.
Using electronic structure simulations, help develop virtual libraries of carbon nanostructure properties under different conditions.
Produce high quality scientific and technical outputs including journal articles, conference papers and presentations.
Work collaboratively with scientists in different domains, including computational members of the Virtual Nanoscience laboratory, computational and experimental scientists within CSIRO.
Develop innovative concepts and ideas for further research.
Participate in CSIRO’s postdoctoral training program.
