One of the top-ranked universities in the country, Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, located in downtown Chicago, combines innovative technology and pioneering research in a highly collaborative environment that transcends traditional academic boundaries. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pathology and Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute for studies of inflammation-resolution in monocytes and macrophages after heart attack and hypoxic wound injury. Studies will interrogate cell-signaling mechanisms in primary cells by molecular biology. Mechanistic studies will be coupled with tests of physiological relevance after surgically inducing myocardial infarction in a survival animal model and compared to human diseased tissue. In vivo experiments will be assayed by flow cytometry, molecular biology, and histology. Surgical, echocardiography, flow, and histology skills are not immediately required and can be learned during the course of studies. A fundamental training in molecular biology is required. Expertise in flow cytometry is favored. Please see our website at thorplab.com. Northwestern University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer. Members of historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. If interested please send a CV, names of two references, and a description of research interests and career goals to: Edward Thorp, PhD at ebthorp@northwestern.edu
