Required qualifications: PhD or equivalent. Prior experience in analytical chemistry and mass spectrometric characterization of DNA adducts, analytes in urine or hair, analytical chemistry, LC, MS, and MS/MS techniques, employing triple quadrupole and ion trap MS employing triple quadrupole, ion trap and high resolution MS instrumentation are required.
Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. with extensive research in Bioanalytical mass spectrometry. Prior experience in analytical chemistry; experience in sample workup, and hands-on-training in liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry of biomarkers Experience with LC/MS employing nanoLC is desired.
Duties/Responsibilities
Dr. Robert J. Turesky seeks a Postdoctoral Associate for the development and validation of biomarkers of carcinogen biomarkers. Program is substantially expanding work directed at measuring chemicals and related biomarkers in human-derived specimens. Experience in analytical methods development and mass spectrometric characterization of aromatic amines, heterocyclic aromatic amines, and their metabolites in urine or hair matrix, or DNA adducts in human biospecimens for quantitative analysis . Resulting data will be used to assess chemical exposures, supporting applied work in direct public health protection and research into the causation of environmentally-induced disease.
The post-doctoral associates conduct research that provides further development of career skills or allows them opportunities to learn new research techniques. They are trained by and work in conjunction with a faculty mentor who determines the training agenda. Responsibilities generally include participation in the design, implementation, and evaluation of research; carry out and/or supervise laboratory experiments; develop experimental procedures; collect and analyze data; participate in preparing and presenting data to study investigators; author or co-author, or otherwise collaborate on reports, conference papers and publications. Positions limited to a period of three years up to five, depending on training needs.
