Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics, Developmental Biology or related science.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and TAMHSC guidelines.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience with Signaling research. Demonstrated ability to do independent research in an area related developmental genetics or signaling. Experience with molecular biology, protein biochemistry, developmental biology and genetics.
Job Detail:
The scientist will implement a wide range of experimental procedures including, phenotypic assays, C. elegans genetics, microscopy, transgenesis and genome editing. Perform fundamental and/or translational investigations at a level appropriate for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Studies will be conducted using the standard techniques appropriate for biochemical, genetic, cellular, and animal model systems as they relate to important questions in cancer prevention and treatment. Investigations utilizing a wide range of experimental procedures will be carried out at the in vivo level, including Genetics and Molecular Genetics, Transgenesis, Immunoprecipiation, RT- PCR , PCR , and Fluorescence and DIC microscopy.
Participate in joint projects involving faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and technicians. Assist with research grant proposals and provide publishable reports for conference and journal presentation. This will include library research into new approaches, the preparation of tables, graphs, photographs and figures, and assist in manuscripts and grant proposals. Participate in weekly lab meetings within the center and other departments. Provides assistance to graduate students and junior lab personnel. Maintain lab stocks and equipment. Other duties as assigned.
