Postdoctoral research position available for research into corticostriatal plasticity. Studies utilizing whole-cell patch clamp techniques to record from slices will be integrated with behavioral studies using mouse genetics, chemical and opto-genetics. The lab focuses on the role of striatal learning in Parkinson's disease and appetitive motivation. The position will entail developing and carrying out an independent research project(s) in the context of the focus of the lab and taking a leadership role within the lab.
Other Duties:
- Assist in training and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students within lab. Salary: $36,000 - $45,000
Core Competencies/Qualifications:
- Intellectual strength in a field of knowledge, or specialty, pertinent to the research area, as evidenced in areas of study, teaching, publication and/or research background; - Knowledge of cutting-edge research in the field; - Ability to work on a team as well as independently; - Ability to use effectively all research equipment and devices standard to the field; ability to use and manage web-based technology, as needed; - Ability to author or co-author reports of substantial complexity; when assigned, ability to organize and participate in colloquia, symposia, presentations of reports, demonstrations, performances, etc. consistent with the scope and nature of the project and the requirements of the sponsor; - Ability to exercise intellectual leadership in anticipating and resolving research issues; - A Ph.D. in an appropriate field of study, or specialty, from an accredited institution.
