The HiT Center at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who will conduct large-scale characterization of antibodies generated against human transcription factors. This position will involve extensive collaboration with our industrial partners at CDI Labs in Baltimore and Puerto Rico, and involve direct supervision of technical personnel. A PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field with 0-3 years postgraduate experience is required. Experience in protein biochemistry, cell culture, and/or immunoprecipitation are required. An interest in high-throughput biology, technology development and the biotechnology industry are highly desirable.

Job description:
The employee will characterize the specificity and affinity of purified monoclonal antibodies raised against human transcription factors using both native and transfected cell lines. Assays performed will include cell culture, transfection, gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, image acquisition and analysis. The employee will devote 10-15% of his/her time to development of novel approaches to improve technologies used for antibody characterization. The employee will directly supervise a senior technician who will work with him/her on this project. Finally, the employee will meet specific productivity milestones set by the NIH Protein Affinity Reagent Initiative. This position will require extensive and ongoing coordination with antibody production efforts carried out by CDI Laboratories Inc. in Baltimore and Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
