The position
We are seeking a highly motivated Post Doctoral Scientist with interest and expertise in cancer genomics research. The successful candidate will work on developing new applications in the next generation sequencing technologies area for diagnostic. In particular, the successful candidate will develop targeted resequencing assays for clinically relevant cancer genes in biological sample with low tumour cell content such as biopsies or biological fluids.
The initial focus will be on breast cancer but the scope of the work could extend to multiple tumour indications. The successful candidate must be able to work well with groups from different disciplines and to present scientific results in a clear and effective manner.
Who You Are
A PhD in oncogenomic with strong competencies on working with human clinical samples. A solid knowledge of cancer biology and direct experience with next generation sequencing data analysis is required. Programming skills are not mandatory but will be a good bonus for the application. Experience of the candidate must be validated by a strong publication record.
The successful candidate must be motivated, capable of multitasking and working independently, and enjoy working in a collaborative setting.
Who We Are
The main objectives of the Department of Oncology-Pathology are basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer. Approximately 300 people from over 40 nations are currently working at the department. 37 research groups with various cancer research profiles are involved and we have around 120 PhD students. The Department of Oncology-Pathology is responsible for undergraduate courses in pathology, oncology and forensic medicine for medical students, as well as for tumour biology courses for biomedicine students.
The project will be co-supervised by Visiting Prof Thierry Soussi, PhD and Asst Prof Svetlana Lagercrantz, MD, PhD.
Appointment will be for 1 year, with a possible extension after evaluation.
