Cellular Signaling Research Using Systems Biology Approaches

Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at Washington State University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate to conduct multidisciplinary research to examine cell signaling patterns and their regulation in mammalian cells. Objectives of the involved research are to identify the signaling pathways involved in particular cellular processes and to investigate how cellular signaling and crosstalk between signaling pathways are regulated in relationship to extracellular cues. We are looking for a creative, self-motivated individual who has the ability and the drive to pursue challenging, interdisciplinary research.

Position Details:
Although the main responsibility will be the involvement in experimental work, participation in the computational analysis of cellular networks and in dealing with the high throughput data analysis is also expected. An ideal candidate will have an established working experience in the experimental measurement of cellular activities and interest in computational sciences. The candidate will be joining a laboratory which is being newly setup. Job duties, at least at the beginning of the appointment, will involve helping with setting up the new lab and making it fully functional. Therefore, experience with setting up experimental labs and its management and strong hands-on experimental cell biology skills are essential and required.

Minimum/Required Qualifications:
Minimum qualification: Only the applicants who meet the following qualifications will be considered for the position:
A Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Biophysics, or a closely related field.

Strong academic and research background to undertake fundamental cell biology studies using systems biology methods.

Strong experimental skills and hands-on experience to undertake challenging experiments.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
