A postdoctoral position is available to study immune cell migration in the context of cancer at the Chair of Pharmacology of the University of Fribourg. Research in the laboratory headed by Prof. Carole Bourquin focuses on the role of innate immunity, in particular through activation of Toll-like and RIG-I-like receptors, for the generation of anti-cancer responses. A major focus is the development of immunotherapeutic strategies (recent publications: Heidegger et al., Blood, 2013, e-pub ahead of print; Zoglmeier et al., Clinical Cancer Research, 2011; Bourquin et al., Cancer Research, 2011).
Description
Qualifications: Postdoctoral candidates should have a PhD in life sciences and first publications in the field of immunology or cancer biology. Candidates should have a strong interest in studying migration of immune cells in vivo. Experience in mucosal or tumor immunology is a plus. We offer: The successful applicant will be integrated in the young and dynamic team of the Chair of Pharmacology at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including an automated flow cytometer, and collaborates with research groups in immunology and cancer on campus and at national and international level. In particular, the lab participates in a Swiss collaboration network on cell migration in cancer and immunity. The city of Fribourg is beautifully situated at the foot of the Swiss Alps. Due to a central position in Switzerland, all other major Swiss cities are easily reached by train or car.
