A 24 month MRC-funded position is available in the laboratory of Dr Steve Sweet to study epigenetic changes after the repair of DNA damage.
Transcription is shut off during the DNA damage response (DDR). There is evidence for longer-term epigenetic changes, including alterations in DNA methylation, after damage repair. In this project the successful candidate will develop a mammalian tissue-culture system, in collaboration with Dr Savic’s group, allowing long-term monitoring of epigenetic changes after repair of DNA double-strand breaks. Techniques used will include microscopy, ChIP-qPCR and ChIP-seq.
Applicants should have a PhD in cell biology, molecular biology or similar area. Experience in mammalian tissue culture, molecular biology and/or cell biology is essential. Applicants should have a strong publication record.
