The Université de Sherbrooke is located in the beautiful Eastern Townships in Québec. It is a university with a very good reputation internationally. The mission of our laboratory is, firstly, to develop technologies and processes for growing vascularized tissue substitutes. More specifically, we work at developing a device to improve pancreatic islet transplantation. Also, we aim to develop and validate diagnostic tools to monitor events in the blood tissue. Finally, we develop culture methods and technologies applied more widely in the biotechnology engineering sector. The objective of the present research project is to develop a new system of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) for the pharmaceutical industry to be used for detecting events in the blood tissue. Tasks: - Design and assemble the electronic components of the system; - Develop and validate a fluidic system to allow blood to circulate and reach diagnostic surfaces; - Develop and validate the control system (temperature, pH , flow rate , etc.). - System validation and statistical analysis. Candidates must have a background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and/or physics/engineering physics with the skills to be able to contribute to the project. This project is in collaboration with major industrial partners. The candidate must be able to work in teams. A curious candidate, capable to work under pressure and well organized is sought. Offer only valid depending on availability of funds.
