Applicants are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to research the secondary migration of hydrocarbons and fluid flow in sedimentary basins using quantitative methods in seismic interpretation and integration with rock physics. This project is part of a major initiative funded by Shell to establish the Shell Geoscience Laboratory. The post will involve close interaction with team members at Oxford and in Shell.
The post will involve the quantitative interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data, wireline log data and core/outcrop data and a lead role in the computational support of the seismic interpretation capability of the new laboratory. Candidates should have research experience, and a PhD in geophysics (seismic interpretation), rock physics or petrophysics.
The post is based in the Department of Earth Sciences, is for 4 years and is available from 1 January 2014. The department, with strong support from Shell, is expanding its interests in petroleum geoscience, with an emphasis on unconventional resources. We seek talented and enthusiastic individuals who are keen to work in a dynamic, interactive and technically innovative research environment.
