The successful applicant for this 3.5 year position in computational physics will develop and use techniques from molecular dynamics and network theory to study non-equilibrium dynamics in a novel magnetic system.
Description
We have an opening for a postdoctoral researcher to study and explore complex dynamics in structures based on magnetic artificial spin ice. The successful candidate will join the theoretical effort as part of a larger team in partnership with experimental groups at the University of Glasgow, University of Leeds and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The ultimate goal is to understand and control the flow of magnetic charge. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computational and theoretical techniques useful for modelling complex dynamics. The position is funded for 3.5 years, and the start date is as soon as possible after 1 January 2014. Please contact Robert.Stamps@glasgow.ac.uk directly for more details. The University of Glasgow is committed to equality of opportunity in employment. Charity number SC004401.
