A postdoctoral position is available to investigate epigenetic regulation during normal myogenesis and in muscle disease.
 

Description

POST-DOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE Laboratory of Gene Expression and Muscular Dystrophy, Division of Regenerative Medicine, San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milano, Italy. The general focus of the group centers on epigenetic regulation of myogenesis using facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) as paradigm. Projects are available to investigate mechanisms regulating chromatin structure and expression of the FSHD locus. The laboratory is strategically located within the scientific environment of the San Raffaele Biomedical Area. There are ample opportunities to interact with other laboratories with interests in regulation of gene expression and disease. The Division of Regenerative Medicine has a strong emphasis on development of novel therapeutic approaches for muscular dystrophy. Recent publications: 1. Neguembor et al. 2013 FSHD muscular dystrophy region gene 1 binds Suv4-20h1 histone methyltransferase and impairs myogenesis. J Mol Cell Biol 5:294-307 2. Xynos et al. 2013 Overexpression of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy region gene 1 causes primary defects in myogenic stem cells. J Cell Sci 126:2236-45 3. Pistoni et al. 2013 Rbfox1 downregulation and altered calpain 3 splicing by FRG1 in a mouse model of Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). PLoS Genet 9:e1003186 4. Cabianca et al. 2012 A Long ncRNA Links Copy Number Variation to a Polycomb/Trithorax Epigenetic Switch in FSHD Muscular Dystrophy. Cell 149:819-831 Candidates with strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry or bioinformatics are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have demonstrated scientific productivity, good inter-personal and communication skills, and be able to conduct independent research.
