In February 2014 a new Special Research Program will be launched at the Medical University Vienna financed by the Austrian Science Fund. This will allow recruiting four postdoctoral fellows and 16 PhD students. The program is a network of ten research groups with a planned duration of eight years and an intermediate evaluation after 4 years.
The title of the program is: "Cellular Mediators Linking Inflammation and Thrombosis"
The research groups currently comprise about 65 scientists, who will work synergistically with the newly hired scientists to build up a professional research network linking basic research with clinical science.
We are looking for highly motivated candidates with strong background in life sciences. The candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills (English), and ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts. Our consortium has extensive worldwide contacts, which will be made available for PhD students and Postdocs to gain international experience for a period of 3 – 6 months during their projects. Students will be enrolled in the PhD program of the Medical Univ. Vienna, which is held entirely in English.
The groups are located at the Medical University Vienna, predominantly in the new “Anna Spiegel” building (http://www.meduniwien.ac.at/annaspiegel) providing the entire infrastructure required for professional biomedical research including core facilities for imaging, flow cytometry, genomics and proteomics.
