Postdoctoral Fellow, Computational Sciences
Job Description
The Research group of Momenta Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to develop, apply and publish computational methods geared towards multivariate analysis of large data sets which often combine diverse types of measurements. Examples of problems to be considered are: investigating the mechanism of action of novel drugs in disease models, identifying and validating markers, discovering potential drug targets or relevant treatments and quantitatively describing complex mixtures. The successful candidate will have to both work closely with a small team of computational scientists having experience in the above tasks and collaborate with biologists and analytical chemists. This position does not require prior experience in drug discovery nor knowledge of biology, and therefore is a great learning opportunity for graduates in Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics. This position requires very strong problem-solving skills, taste for and proven experience in doing mathematics, good programming skills, willingness to learn and interest in solving research-level problems and writing publications.
Requirements
Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Biomathematics, Computer Science or Physics with at least one year of previous postdoctoral experience.
Track record of publication showing experience in solving mathematical problems or developing computational methods.
Several years of programming experience. Object-oriented (e.g. Java) is preferred. Knowledge of R is a plus but not a requirement. Familiarity with TeX is expected.
Good knowledge of at least one of the following disciplines: algorithms, linear algebra, probability theory, mathematical statistics, statistical learning, stochastic processes, optimization and dynamical systems.
Excellent ability to present and explain in simple terms the key concepts underlying some of your technical work
