The Ralser laboratory at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge, Cambridge is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral scientist to join their team. We are a mid -sized (~10 people) EMBO young investigator laboratory, mostly a postdoctoral laboratory working on yeast and mass spectrometry to understand cellular metabolism and ageing. The Jobholder will contribute to the science in the lab, which is about the evolution and functionality of cellular metabolism. In this ERC Starting grant funded position, the focus will be to use either molecular biology or mass spectrometry based techniques how enzymes achieved the efficiency required in the modern metabolic network, and how the structure of this network is maintained when cells transit between different conditions.
Therefore, a PhD in either Biology/Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry or a related discipline is mandatory; due to modern analytical techniques employed in the laboratory, the applicant should be familiar with the computational analysis of datasets, as well as having had experience of molecular biology or mass spectrometry.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 June 2016 in the first instance.
