An enthusiastic and self-motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant is required to add their expertise to a team investigating pathophysiology of lysosomal storage diseases. The project will focus on determining the mechanisms underlying metal ion dysregulation and to evaluate the therapeutic potential of metal targeted therapies.
Applicants will be expected to have a good research track record for their stage of career. They must be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, as the successful candidate will be expected to write research papers for publication and to present work orally. Applicants should be able to work independently but also be good team workers and keen to collaborate with other scientists in the research group and department.
Essential criteria include a first or upper second class degree in pharmacology, biochemistry or other relevant discipline together with a PhD in a relevant area; proven laboratory experience, some of which should include basic laboratory management (Health and Safety, basic ordering of consumables, etc); and experience in working with lysosomal disease models, flow cytometry, western blotting and acidic store calcium measurements.
The post is fixed-term for 3 years and is funded by Action Medical Research.
