A postdoctoral position in computational/statistical genomics is available in the Barreiro’s Lab at the University of Montreal and at the Sainte-Justine Hospital Research Center. Our group studies the genetic basis of differences in immune response among human individuals and populations, as well as between humans and other primates. Projects in our lab are multidisciplinary and combine the use of cutting edge genomic techniques (e.g., RNA-seq) with immunological and evolutionary genetic tools. More details on some of our ongoing projects can be found on our website: http://luis-barreirolab.org/
Postdoctoral applicants should have a quantitative background and/or extensive experience with genomic data analysis. Strong programming and bioinformatics skills are essential. Knowledge in theoretical population genetics or a background in evolutionary biology is a plus. The applicants will have the freedom to choose their own projects as long and they fit within the general interests of our lab.
Our lab offers a congenial research environment complemented by the rich academic milieu of Montreal. Montreal has a large genomics community with whom we interact regularly. Postdocs in our lab are encouraged to develop collaborations with other groups and to start developing an independent research program.
