A post-doctoral position is available for a talented research scientist to join the internationally recognised rheumatology research group at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine. The project focuses on investigation of genetic and epigenetic factors contributing to the development of Paget’s disease of bone; a common bone disease characterised by focal areas of increased bone turnover leading to bone pain, deformity and other complications. The project offers an ideal opportunity for a highly talented scientist wishing to advance their career in the field of genetic and epigenetic mechanism of human disease.
The applicant must meet the following criteria:
• PhD in Genetics/Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics or closely related subjects
• Minimum of 3 years research experience supported by strong publication record in the field
• Experience in the analysis of high throughput genomic data sets including: DNA methylation array, next generation sequencing and gene expression data
• Programming ability in platforms used for analysis of genomic data (Unix/Linux, R-package, and bioinformatics tools)
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
The position is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) and is available for 3 years in the first instance with a possibility of extension.
