Hybrid Interventional Imaging
**The postdoc will have a strong contribution to the development, implementation and application of a new hybrid interventional imaging device, that is aimed at improving guidance and outcome of (oncological) interventions. This new device will be a recently patented innovative combination of nuclear and x-ray imaging and – if finished- will have never achieved before imaging capabilities. To accomplish this, the postdoc requires to have good technical and programming skills. This project is funded by the STW organization.

UMC Utrecht
**The imaging division of the University Medical Center Utrecht is formed by Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy. This division has a focus on the technical and clinical development of image guided therapies. The Ph.D. candidate will be member of the Medical Physics team of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and work in close collaboration with medical specialists and industrial partners.  

Job Description *
*To accomplish the successful design, construction and evaluation of the innovative hybrid imaging device, the postdoc requires to have good technical and programming skills. Amongst the tasks and responsibilities are i) development and application of (Monte Carlo) simulations of the device requiring physics insight and computer skills, ii) development, implementation and evaluation of reconstruction algorithms requiring physics and mathematical insights and computer skills, iii) selection, purchasing and testing of imaging and computer hardware requiring physics insight and (electro) technical skills and affinity iv) construction and testing of the new device. The project is regarded as a high gain high risk project and requires resourcefulness and (technical) creativity. The postdoc position is for approximately 2 years.

Job Requirements
**We are looking for an excellent candidate with a Ph.D Degree (post-doc) in (bio-)physics, engineering, image sciences or a comparable training with a strong interest in medical physics, medical imaging. and (scientific) programming. The candidate must have good English writing skills and should be highly motivated….
