The two year Translational Molecular Pathology fellowship training program is uniquely organized to give both M.D. and Ph.D. candidates a breadth of understanding in the discipline of pathology as well as a depth of knowledge in the molecular pathology of cancer, with particular focus on specific organ sites.Working groups in lung, breast, colon, brain, and pancreatic cancer, as well as melanoma and lymphoma are being developed in which faculty, both research and clinical, work collaboratively across departmental boundaries to translate research to a clinical endpoint. Although each working group is organized by organ site, fellows accepted into this program would have the opportunity to participate in department-wide activities as well as to develop an in-depth research experience focusing on a particular organ site. Each fellow will have the opportunity to work with a primary mentor within the department and a co-mentor from the appropriate clinical department (if needed) to perform a translational molecular pathology research project, as well as participate in focused workshops in areas of interest and specialization offered by the program faculty. Fellows will also have the ability to participate in seminar and group discussions with working groups in particular organ site-specific research projects.
