The Department of Biomedical Sciences within the Faculty of Human Sciences at the University of Osnabrück has an opening for a
Ph.D. Student/Post-Doc/Junior Research Scientist
The position is available from April 2014 for initially 2 years (extension possible).
We consider the biological consequences of the stress response-induced expression of the two S100 proteins, S100A8 and S100A9, in keratinocytes, in particular during wound healing. We also emphazise their roles in inflammation-associated tumorgenesis, and investigate the application of S100 genes as diagnostic and prognostic markers for several carcinoma.
Requirements:
• We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated candidate, who will join our research group working on novel strategies to analyze the biological function of S100 proteins.
• The ideal candidate should have a fundamental knowledge in molecular biology and/or cell biology.
• Techniques include generation of constitutive and conditional cell lines, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, histology, molecular biology, biochemistry and microscopy.
• Excellent English and German written and oral communication skills are required.
• Participation in teaching activities at the School of Health Sciences is expected.
Qualifications:
• This position includes the possibility for independent scientific work and leading to the achievement of further scientific qualifications.
