The Unit of Molecular Metabolism at Lund University offers a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Lund University Diabetes Centre in Malmö, Sweden. The centre hosts outstanding research on many aspects of diabetes – genetics of Type 2 Diabetes, metabolomics and islet biology are among the prioritized areas. The diabetes centre currently comprises 421 people. In 2012, the centre published 332 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
In the project, metabolomic and proteomic analyses using nano- and UHPLC/QTOF and GC/TOF will be used to examine the role of metabolic pathways in the pathogenesis of Type 2 Diabetes. The approach will be applied to cell-lines, tissue, and plasma, freshly prepared or collected from the large biobanks available within LUDC. In addition, there is access to genomic and transcriptomic (RNAseq) data. The applicant will work with bioinformaticians with the goal to develop a Systems Biology-based analysis of Type 2 Diabetes pathogenesis.
The position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant area. Expertise in metabolomics, proteomics or mass spectrometry is required. Experience from islet biology, diabetes research, metabolism and genomics and proteomics research is valued.
