Curtin University’s Centre for Crop Disease Management and the Australian Grains Research Development Corporation has joined forces to create a major new crop disease research centre.
With research funding of $100 million over five years, the initiative will encompass major projects on wheat, barley, canola and legume diseases, as well as crop protection agronomy and economics. It will also expand existing research programs which have significantly impacted on wheat necrotrophic fungal diseases, barley powdery mildew and fungicide resistance management.
As a Curtin research academic you will undertake research in molecular biology to identify resistance mechanisms associated with fungicide resistance and new potential fungicide targets. Your approach will be molecular with a strong focus on understanding mechanisms and delivery to the field and your responsibilities may include supervising honours research students and the preparation of manuscripts and research grants.
Ideally you have completed a doctoral qualification or are progressing towards a doctoral qualification (appointment at ALA) in a relevant discipline, can demonstrate competency in relevant research techniques and experience in microbiology and fungicide resistance analyses.
