Thermo Fisher Scientific Bremen seeks to appoint a postdoc to work in the Marketing Department of the Bremen Factory. The postdoc shall work in the demo laboratory to develop new application techniques in plasma source mass spectrometry, jointly with GFZ Potsdam.
Description
Objectives: • Develop new application techniques for MC-ICPMS with special focus on Laser Ablation and other coupling methods generating transient signals. Tasks and methodology: • Perform direct comparison between Excimer and Femtosecond laser ablation MC ICPMS analyses (in close collaboration with GFZ Potsdam). • Develop and document data evaluation package for analysis of transient signals (laser ablation, GC, HPLC, FFF). • Develop routine Laser Ablation methods. • Provide application support to our customers. • Develop marketing material. Qualifications: • PhD in Geosciences, Physics, or Chemistry. • Experience in MC-ICPMS. • Knowledge of the design and physics of solid-state lasers. • Software programming skills using script languages. • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment. • Ability to independently develop novel experimental approaches.Benefits

As a result, IsoNose fellows will gain both research experience and complementary skills such as career planning, communicating science, and management techniques. Researchers will mainly work in their host institution, but they will also spend a period of at least 4 months with another IsoNose partner, based either in academia or industry. On completion of their fellowship, successful applicants are expected to be amongst the future leaders in this field.
