Job Description
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Princeton University is seeking a postdoctoral or more senior researcher to work at the NSTX-U Fusion Facility in Princeton, NJ and EAST Fusion Facility in Hefei, China. The successful candidate will plan, perform and analyze experiments at the NSTX-U and EAST with strong a plasma control aspect. Examples of possible work topics include but are not limited to: advanced divertor control (more generally heat flux control); Pedestal control (width, height, diffusion and ELM structure) using real-time diagnostic measurements of the plasma; Detachment and radiation control; Real-time stability analysis for disruption avoidance; NTM control. The successful candidate will be based in Princeton and is expected to travel internationally to China to work on EAST facility and to interact with other leading experiments addressing similar issues and conduct joint experiments.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant field of engineering, science, or mathematics with expertise in one or more of the following: plasma physics, control science or a similar field.
This is a one year term position renewable depending upon available funding and satisfactory performance. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
