Postdoctoral Positions in Molecular Virology and Innate Immunity

Postdoctoral positions are available immediately to study interactions between RNA viruses and the mammalian host. One position involves basic and translational work on innate immunity to positive-strand RNA viruses. A novel transgenic mouse model we recently developed will be used along with cell culture systems to investigate mechanisms of viral nucleic acid sensing by pattern-recognition receptors such as MDA5, in translational efforts to achieve broad-spectrum protection against microbial pathogens, and to decipher roles of the innate immune system in autoimmunity. Another position involves our ongoing studies of HIV-1 interactions with host cell proteins, including dependency and restriction factors. Applications of site-specific gene targeting to HIV cure are also of interest. For each position, a strongly motivated individual with a relevant Ph.D. degree is sought. Experience in virology, host-pathogen interactions, innate immunity, bioinformatics, or mouse modeling will be valued.
