Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany invites applications for an ERC-funded postdoctoral position. We use the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae to study how cells maintain genomic stability during meiosis, the specialized cell division that is essential for sexual reproduction. We are broadly interested in understanding how organisms manage the processes of DNA break formation and repair during meiosis. This particular project aims to understand the molecular mechanisms that protect at-risk repetitive DNA sequences during meiotic recombination. To study this, we use a combination of genome-wide analysis of DNA break formation, genetics, molecular cell biology and biochemistry
For the available postdoctoral position we are seeking a creative and enthusiastic individual with a passion for basic biomedical research.
Candidates should hold a PhD degree or should obtain a PhD degree in the near future. Previous experience in yeast genetics, next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics or cell biology is considered a plus.
