A post-doctoral fellowship in plant tissue culture is available at Université Laval (Quebec City, Canada) in the context of a research project jointly funded by a private seed company (Coop fédérée) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada. The project aims to develop and improve an isolated microspore culture protocol for use in oats.

We are currently seeking a post-doctoral fellow with a strong background in plant tissue culture, with demonstrated knowledge and capabilities in the area of androgenesis in cereal crops. The project will entail the continuation of existing work (unpublished) building on previous work carried out in barley (Esteves and Belzile 2014, Plant Cell Reports 33:871-879; Esteves et al. 2014, Plant Cell Reports 33:993-1011). The initial phase of the work will focus on optimizing plant regeneration conditions. In addition to demonstrated scientific skills, an interest in entrepreneurship will be a considered an important quality in the successful applicant.

An expression of interest should be accompanied by a curriculum vitae and a brief statement of research interests and goals. Consideration of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The post-doctoral fellowship is for one year initially with possible extension for another year based on satisfactory performance.
