An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Margaret Kielian, Professor of Cell Biology and Samuel H. Golding Chair in Microbiology.
We use enveloped alphaviruses and flaviviruses as highly developed and medically important systems to study virus-membrane fusion and virus assembly at the molecular level. Recent work includes studies of the rubella virus membrane fusion mechanism (Dubé, PLoS Pathogens 2014, 10(12): e1004530), the biogenesis of the dengue virus membrane fusion protein (Zheng, Nature Communications, 2014, 5: 3877), and live cell imaging studies of alphavirus budding (cover article, Martinez, J. Virol. 2014, 88: 6922). The laboratory has a multidisciplinary approach and a collaborative and interactive atmosphere.
