A Post-Doctoral Fellow position is available in the NIH funded laboratory of Dr. Chitra Dahia, to study the role of developmental pathways like Shh and Wnt signaling in the maintenance of postnatal intervertebral disc, and determine the changes that are associated with aging and/ or degeneration. The long-term goal of the research program is to identify potential biological approaches for therapy of the disc and in treatment of disc related disorders like lower back pain.
Candidate having a recent Ph.D. degree in Developmental Biology or Molecular Biology with experience in fluorescence microscopy and transgenic mouse model system will be desirable. Experience in tissue culture, cell and molecular biology techniques, microscopy, computational biology and writing skills is essential.
