2 Postdoc Positions in Stem Cell Biology Research : Los Angeles, CA, United States
The Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA, Division of Molecular and Cellular Oncology, laboratory of Dr. Frank Pajonk (pajonk.bol.ucla.edu), is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for an NIH-funded research project on the effect of ionizing radiation on breast cancer stem cells. Goal of the project is to identify molecular pathways activated in response to genotoxic stress that lead to phenotype conversion of non-tumorigenic breast cancer cells into breast cancer stem cells and to develop novel drugs to prevent this process.
The Department is seeking a second postdoctoral fellow for an NIH-funded research project on radiation mitigation in neural and intestinal stem cells. The project uses mouse models of acute radiation injury and will apply novel drugs discovered at UCLA after exposure to lethal doses of radiation to rescue normal stem cell populations and to identify the underlying molecular mechanisms.
A successful applicant must be a productive Ph.D. candidate or recent Ph.D. graduate with less than 2 years of postdoctoral experience and documented expertise in cell and molecular biology. Candidates with previous experience in mouse models of cancer, flow cytometry, HTS, in-vivo lineage tracing, organoid cultures, flow cytometry and viral vectors preferred.
At least one published manuscript in a peer reviewed international journal resulting from the doctoral research and one 1st authorship from postdoctoral research (if applicable) are required. Excellent verbal communication and writing skills in English are a precondition.
