Post Doctoral Researcher in Washington University
Job Description
A post doctoral position is available at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis to develop novel optogenetic approaches to control signaling activity and apply them to understand how cell migration is regulated by spatiotemporally dynamic molecular mechanisms. The migration of cells is central to immune system function, wound healing and morphogenesis. We are also interested in applying these optical approaches to identify the role signaling at organelles such as the Golgi and endosomes plays in regulating cell function. The experimental focus will be on creating optical modulators of signaling containing light sensitive and signaling proteins, using light to induce or disrupt signaling activity at the subcellular level and imaging live cells to monitor dynamic molecular and cellular responses. We are interested in the long term in using these optogenetic approaches translationally to target immune cells to specific sites, regulate heart cell contractility and control insulin secretion.
