Postdoctoral Research Scientist
The Beatson Institute for Cancer Research
Initial 3 year fixed term contract (with possibility of up to 2 year extension).
Application of genome editing in cancer models
Dr Douglas Strathdee
Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies with special emphasis on structural biology, imaging, metabolomics and in-vivo models.
A highly motivated post-doctoral scientist is required to join the Transgenic Technology Lab, part of an ambitious program to develop and implement genome editing technology for the production of state of the art in vivo models. Your primary role will be to develop the production of genetically engineered in vivo cancer models for discovery research. In addition you will be expected to work as part of a team, to establish and apply genome editing and targeted nuclease approaches to the generation of novel transgenic models.
You will have successfully completed a PhD in molecular genetics or a related field and possess a strong molecular/cell biology background. Prior experience with CRISPR genome editing and in vivo models would be a significant advantage. You should have good communication, project management and organisational skills.
